You stand a far greater chance of moving your “Google My Business” (GMB) directory listing to page one than you do your website. Recently I googled “Personal Injury Lawyers”, and there are 22 spaces for results on page one, but only six attorney websites got placement.
What takes up the other results on Google page one? Google Ads, directories and three listings in GMB. But, here’s why it’s easier to get your GMB on page one. First, nobody’s trying to do that, so there’s less competition. Second, search results are based on where you’re searching. Google wants to show the businesses closest to you. So, you’re going to be on page one no matter what. However, you want to be on page one for the broadest geography possible.
How do you get GMB placement page one for the broadest geography possible? Numerous factors, but it boils down to geo-relevance and telling Google you do what you say you do. I’ve spent years learning those strategies and am having success applying them.
